Christmas 2018

The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.
(Numbers 6:24-26, NKJV)

We're the Bullocks: Dan, Gaye, Anne, and Allen. This is our humble home in cyberspace, where we do several things.

  • Tell you that Jesus is our Lord, and why we trust our lives to Him.
  • Share the good news of how you can have a relationship with Jesus,
be forgiven of everything you've ever done wrong, and live forever!
  • Keep you up to date on the cheerful chaos that is our family life.
  • Glorify God through artistic photography of his beautiful creation.

Thanks for visiting! We hope you enjoy your time here and get blessed!

The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.

Family

2018 was another year with the theme of "Never a dull moment around here!"

It snowed in Warner Robins in January 2018 - and for 2019, with predictions of a cold winter, we're hopeful of seeing some again!

A major change has come to our family: Dan's father suffered a recurrence of his colon cancer, and he died in May 2018. The end came fairly quickly, but he managed to hang on long enough for Dan and Gaye to fly to DC and visit with him for a few hours before he passed away. We were all blessed to have both Anne and Allen come up to DC for the funeral! His body was cremated, and his ashes are now interred in the columbarium at my parents' church.

Dan took Gaye out to several ballroom dancing events with the Warner Robins Dance Society – and we went again to the Veterans Day Gala Dance for Habitat For Humanity (we got all dressed up, and had a great time!).

Dan

Dan is still playing the bass guitar: for musical worship at home; for the praise & worship team at church; and he and Gaye still play at our weekly "bar gig" – which is what we call the Pickers' Circle group that gets together and jams every Tuesday evening at the Moose Lodge...in the bar area!

Sadly, in October, he fell down the stairs at his mother's house, and broke his left arm! So, for about 8 weeks, he couldn't play his bass until he healed enough to get out of his cast,,,

Dan still loves going shooting – he enjoyed getting to shoot this last year with a new friend (Michael) and an old friend (Paul).

Dan made 3 separate trips to DC to visit his mom and to transact business after his dad died, He flew on Contour Airlines (yeah, I know you haven't heard of them...) which runs a non-stop commuter jet service from Macon Airport to Baltimore-Washington International Airport. The best part, though, is the fare...we would wait until a few days before the flight, and the last few seats, typically for flights on Tuesdays, are sold for $39 each way! Cool!

Flying was fun this year...for Dan's birthday in February, Gaye took Dan to the local small airport where he got to fly a Cessna 182 (with an instructor pilot)...but the real treat was a "bucket list" item – Gaye gathered a bunch of contributions and bought Dan a flight in an L-39 (a Czechoslovak jet trainer)! It was a blast! Dan got to take the controls and do a bunch of rolls at relatively low altitude over the beaches of Tampa, Florida!

Gaye

Gaye got a new job! You may remember that she was working for Southern Perfection Fabrication as an Engineering Drafter using SolidWorks software – well, she got another job, working on U.S. Air Force C-130 aircraft, using SolidWorks and Design X software, doe a small company called Strategic Enterprise Solutions Corp. She loves it! She likes the work and her coworkers. (and she recently went on a business trip to see "her" model of C-130 in person!

Gaye continues to do a great job caring for Dan in his Parkinson's Disease – especially serving as his chauffeur. She drove to Birmingham a few time to visit Anne, went to a ladies retreat in Kentucky, drove us to Tampa for Dan's fighter jet flight...and she's taking us after Christmas to DC and Dayton to visit family!

Gaye still plays her guitar and sings, primarily at home and at our weekly "bar gigs!"

Anne

Anne moved in March to Birmingham, Alabama, where she's enjoying herself while holding down two jobs – one at TJ Maxx and one at the Alabaster, Alabama, public library. She also has a new boyfriend named Tristan, who joined us for Thanksgiving dinner

Thanksgiving was fun...we took Allen with us and drove to Birmingham, where we met Anne and Tristan at a local restaurant – and before you judge us, you should try it yourself sometime - it's definitely freeing to let someone else worry about cooking and cleaning!

Anne is still considering going to graduate school to get her Master's Degree in Library Science, which she hopes will increase her prospects in a library career.

Allen

Allen is living on his own in Bonaire, Georgia and still enjoys working at Marco's Pizza in Perry. He lives enough to us that we have him over once every week or two for dinner and games...

He's rapidly maturing too, and has been very helpful to Dad (including driving him around occasionally) and is frequently says encouraging, faith-filled things like "God must be looking out for me cuz he's taken care of me so far!"

Prayer Requests

Please pray for our family, as we deal with all the challenges that life has been throwing at us, and continually work to become the authentic individuals God created us to be.

And remember, no matter what's going on in our society, in our culture, in our government...that God is in control! He's still on the throne, none of what we do takes him by surprise, and he'll continue to be faithful to make sure that "all things work together for good, for those who love God and are called according to his purpose!" (Romans 8:28)

About our Site

Dan likes this web site format, and it seems to work o.k. It's based on a template we got free from someone else (hence the attribution at the bottom of the page), and modified to our liking, as permitted under his terms of use. Dan, as much as he likes hand-coding (yeah, right) couldn't do something this nice by himself.

The artistic photo pages, however, are still entirely Dan's design, for now at least, so maybe he hasn't totally abandoned the craft of manually writing web pages...

The "NIV" in our Scripture quotes stands for New International Version. The copyright requires that notation, as well as the following statement: "THE HOLY BIBLE, NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION®, NIV® Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984, 2011 by Biblica, Inc.® Used by permission. Similarly, "NKJV" stands for New King James Version, and its use requires acknowledgment as follows: "Scripture taken from the New King James Version. Copyright 1982 by Thomas Nelson, Inc. Used by permission. All rights reserved."

KJV, of course, means King James Version, which, having been written in 1611, is public domain.

(Hey, I thought of putting in a FAQ section -- you know, Frequently Asked Questions -- but no one ever asks any questions about the site!)
