...where Jesus Christ is Lord!

Christmas 2011-New Year 2012

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
(John 1:1,14, NKJV)

Welcome! We pray you have a blessed Christmas and New Year!

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: We had to get a new domain to host this web site (oh, sorry...in English, we had to get a new address for people to type in to get here). There's good and bad about it...it costs more now, but we have a LOT more space, so I think soon we'll be able to let you click to see previous versions of the site...and the address is easier to remember and type, too:

www.bullockdg.us

HOWEVER...This update is only to this front page!

There are NO updates to Photos, or Links, or Dan's Thoughts, or Stuff. Please be patient as we make the required changes...we'll announce a new full update Real Soon Now (probably late January)...thanks!

- Dan & Gaye

We're the Bullocks: Dan, Gaye, Anne, and Allen. This is our humble Web abode, where we do several things.

  • Tell you Jesus is our Lord, and why we trust our lives to Him.
  • Share the good news of how you can have a relationship with Jesus, be forgiven of everything you've ever done wrong, and live forever!
  • Keep you up to date on the cheerful chaos that is our family life.
  • Glorify God through artistic photography of his beautiful creation.

Thanks for visiting! We hope you enjoy your time here and get blessed!

Stuff!

SAME AS BEFORE -- about Dan's & Gaye's new sport of geocaching, as well as our family's target shooting adventures...

Family

We're a larger family (temporarily)! For November and December we have Jenny staying with us...she's friend of Anne's, and the daughter of some friends who had to move on short notice to Indiana. She's in college here in Georgia, so she's staying here, and living with us, to finish her semester before going to join her family in time for Christmas.

Dan and Gaye are still geocaching – we especially enjoyed finding some caches during our free time as part of a marriage retreat we went to in August. In fact, we had a blast finding "Georgia's Largest Ammo Can" with Anne and Jenny (photos soon...). We think we've made Jenny into a real fan of geocaching now.

We have also recently started frequenting a new small coffeehouse near our house (we both like their "1000-Watt Hot Chocolate," which includes espresso).

We traveled to Ohio for Thanksgiving, primarily to spend time with Gaye's Dad and help take care of him whle he recovers from some health issues. That visiting went well (we spent a lot of time playing Arbles and Texas Hold 'Em poker, and made him lasagne for Thanksgiving!) and we also got to spend time with Gaye's Mom and sister (and played with their chickens!) and got to see our old friend Betsy!

Dan

Dan took Gaye and her friend Jane out shooting a couple more times...the first time, to an indoor range that rents pistols. Much to Dan's amazement and delight, both ladies had a great time shooting the biggest rental gun available – a .44 Magnum revolver! (photos soon...) The second time, Dan, Gaye, and Jane also took Anne and Jenny, and we all had fun at the Ocmulgee outdoor range.

Dan went to a men's conference at the end of September with a couple of friends from church – we drove to Lexington, South Carolina, and camped on the grounds of the Calvary Chapel church there. It was a great time, for maybe 400 men from all over the Southeast – we studied the entire book of Colossians and how it applies to us as men.

He went flying recently – once in September with Allen, and once in November with Gaye. No place special...just buzzing around, enjoying the view from a few thousand feet up!

Now that we have three vehicles (all parking in the same driveway), Dan has taken to calling them "the fleet!"

Gaye

Gaye went shooting with Dan at a competition in Dublin, Georgia! It's called a "Speed Steel" competition, and you race to have the best time shooting at big steel plates. (It's very rewarding to hear the metallic "ping" as you hit each target.) Gaye did very well and had lots of fun (as did Dan)!

She's been having lunch or twice a week with Dan; she likes going to the Officers' Club, or the Base Exchange food court (where she can get a latte).

Gaye went to a ladies' conference in October at the Georgia Veterans State Park, went to two different Christian concerts (Larnell Harris and Casting Crowns), and led another Ladies Worship Team Jam Session! (Dan went too, and played not only his bass, but also electric guitar...)

Dan took Gaye on a date over Veteran's Day - geocaching, sunrise photos, flying, and lunch out at Logan's Roadhouse Restaurant!

Anne

Anne's doing well at college! She finishes her first semester in December, and is looking forward to her new classes for the spring.

She's still teaching at church (3-4 year-olds), and has recently started getting paid to babysit for our new church home fellowship group (that we call a "Care Group.")

Anne finally got a chance to shoot Dan's 9mm carbine...but she decided she likes his .22 caliber Ruger target pistol better...

She's been having lunch once every two weeks with Dad; she likes going to a local sandwich shop, or the Base Exchange food court (that has a sub sandwich shop).

Anne helped us care for a friend's little dog in November. He seems to be part dachshund, part chihuahua (man, those are both hard to spell) named Webster...and he doesn't like men! So, Anne was his friend...

Allen

Allen's doing well in 11th grade, getting excellent grades in German and Social Civics...and he's off to a good start in Geometry!

He's been shooting a few times with Dad - highlights include the Speed Steel competition with his friend Chris, and shooting with Dad in Ohio over the Thanksgiving visit. He enjoys going with friends, and shot with his buddy David in October.

Dan has been teaching Allen how to drive...he's not up to going on the interstate, yet, but is doing very well at up to 55 mph on our rural highways!

He's been having lunch once every two weeks with Dad; he likes going to a local Chinese buffet or Taco Bell.

Allen went flying with Dad in September in the rental Cessna 172 at Macon Airport, and got to do touch-and-goes at the Baldwin County Airport, right on the shore of Lake Sinclair (nice view)!

Prayer Requests

Please pray for our sanity, as we raise a couple of perfectly normal teenagers, get one through her freshman year in college, and teach the other to drive.

Please pray, in this time of uncertainty and volatility throughout the world, that God's will be done, and that many will turn to him, put their faith in Jesus, and be saved. It sure looks to us like the end times may be upon us...are you ready?

About our Site

Dan likes this web site format, and it seems to work o.k. It's based on a template we got free from someone else (hence the attribution at the bottom of the page), and modified to our liking, as permitted under his terms of use. Dan, as much as he likes hand-coding (yeah, right) couldn't do something this nice by himself.

The artistic photo pages, however, are still entirely Dan's design, for now at least, so maybe he hasn't totally abandoned the craft of manually writing web pages...

The "NIV" in our Scripture quotes stands for New International Version. The copyright requires that notation, as well as the following statement: "Scripture quoted from the Holy Bible, New International Version (R). Copyright 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society. Used by permission of International Bible Society."

Similarly, "NKJV" stands for New King James Version, and its use requires acknowledgment as follows: "Scripture taken from the New King James Version. Copyright 1982 by Thomas Nelson, Inc. Used by permission. All rights reserved."

KJV, of course, means King James Version, which, having been written in 1611, is public domain.

(Hey, I thought of putting in a FAQ section -- you know, Frequently Asked Questions -- but no one ever asks any questions about the site!)
