Hi! Happy Fall! Welcome to Bullock Manor Midwest. We're the Bullocks: Dan, Gaye, Anne, and Allen. We put up this web site for three reasons:
Disclaimer: Playing with Hot Wheels and Barbie with the kids, and taking my wife out on dates, are much better investments of my time than fixing up this web site, so you'll just have to wait until December or so for another update. This page has been visited times. (Those of you who come here are a small but select group--thanks!)

Thanks to all of you who work (Happy Labor Day, 7 Sep 98), thanks to all of you who serve or have served in the armed forces (Happy Veteran's Day, 11 Nov 98), and let us repent of our sins and honor our Lord Jesus Christ who has richly blessed us (Happy Thanksgiving, 26 Nov 98). What We BelieveThere is one God, eternal and unchanging, who exists as a Trinity--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.God created us in his image, and loves us and cares about us. The Bible is the Word of God. It is true and without error as originally written. It is consistent and without contradiction. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. It is a historical fact that he lived, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead, and will return again in glory. Personal faith in Jesus is the only way to obtain forgiveness for sins, eternal life, and true, lasting peace and joy.
Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. We (Dan and Gaye) each came to a point in our lives when we realized we were sinners in need of salvation. We realized the things of this world didn't satisfy our need for love, intimacy, and peace of mind. We realized we couldn't achieve righteousness by our own effort. So, we accepted God's free gift of forgiveness and salvation by believing in Jesus and surrendering our will to his.
How To Live ForeverWe recommend you read the scripture quotations yourself, in context, in whatever translation you like.
God loves you and has a purpose for your life. He created you to have a relationship with him. No matter what you've done, he loves you and wants the best for you.
We have all sinned against God, however, by seeking our own will instead of his...
...and the penalty for sin is death.
The good news is that Jesus Christ paid the death penalty for us.
He now offers us eternal life (salvation from our death penalty) and a restored relationship with God as a free gift.
All we have to do is receive the gift by confessing our sins, and by believing that Jesus died for our sins and rose again.
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)
"To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12)
"If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)
We can't earn God's love. We can't work our way to forgiveness. We can never be good enough to be righteous. We don't have to get our act together first. It's a gift--get it? It's not because of anything we do; it's because God loves us.
It's easy, doesn't take any special words, requires no batteries, isn't a secret, doesn't hurt, fade, or wear out, won't break, and no one can take it from you. If you're ready, you can pray something like this: "God, I confess that I've sinned, and I turn away from my sins. I accept your gift of forgiveness and eternal life made possible by Jesus' death and resurrection. I put my faith and trust in Jesus Christ, and I accept him as my Savior and Lord."
If you've just taken this step, please let us know!
We ran out of gas in Kansas on the way home--one mile before we got to our hotel for the night--but a passing tow truck driver stopped to ask if he could help, let us use his cellular phone to call 911, and 10 minutes later a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper was putting gas in our tank for free! Now we like Kansas, and Kansas people. Just in case any of you ever see this page...thank you and God bless you.
We went camping a week before Labor Day. We cooked marshmallows, swam in the lake, visited a nature center, rented a pontoon boat which ran out of gas (deja vu?), and had a great time.
We also went to see Dan's brother Robin Bullock perform with the John Whelan Band at the Dublin, Ohio Irish Festival, and we had a great time. The kids love to see their Uncle Robin, and they had fun doing their version of Irish reels and jigs.
Dan's hair continues to get gray. Gaye says the streaks of gray on the sides look like "racing stripes"!
Anne has a new purple purse, and to Dan's great pleasure she keeps a postcard in it that he sent her last time he was out of town on business. It was a loving, but small thing, I did to send her that card, but it's a big thing to her to get mail from Daddy. You fathers who are reading this, don't EVER underestimate the effect you have, especially on your daughters!
Allen has decided he wants to be an astronaut for Harvest Party this year. (That's our alternative to Halloween--several local churches here have costume parties in a positive atmosphere, to keep kids from the negative aspects of Halloween.) Happy All Saint's Day, instead! (1 Nov 98) So, we're trying to figure out how to do an astronaut costume.
He also really, REALLY likes monster trucks (you know, the jacked up ones with huge tires). On our vacation, every time we saw a pickup truck--any pickup truck--he said "Look, a monster truck!" We also tried to get him to say "Utah," but each time we did, he replied, "Me - tah!"
